Why does my hair grow so fast?

I am 17. and my hair grows relatively fast. when i get a haircut at the same time as my friend, i have a shag in no time…while his hair remains short. why is this? am i eating more healthy than him? or just consuming more of a certain type of vitamin? i guess a better question is: what factors determine the speed of hair growth?

Can facial hair grow faster/slower on some parts of your face?

I’d say it’s been about a week and a half already since I’ve last shaved my facial hair. Today I realized that my my facial hair doesn’t seem to connect in some places around my mouth. I know that can be genetic, but I was also wondering that is it possible for certain areas on your face to grow hair slower than other parts? I’m going for four weeks straight without shaving like most do.
