How can I grow my hair quickly and get rid of knots?

I am in the process of letting my hair grow (yes, there are many men out there with long hair), so I was wondering what I should do to make it grow long very quickly. Are there any shampoos or anything out there? Please don’t just say "keep it healthy, clean it, stay out of pools, ect…".

Also, is there any way to avoid knots? My shampoo doesn’t have a de-knotter, and my parents don’t want to buy one of those anti-knot sprays. What should I do?

See im a asian guy with typical asian hair. It grows straight but it grows out sort of like a porcupine. I have been using pomade wax everyday before school and i try my best to slick it down. I lost the hair on the top of my hair due to radiation and I was wondering if there are any special treatments I can do to promote the hair growth.
Should I wash my hair more or less? Right now I have some dry scalp so I use an all natural itching/dandruff shampoo that has been helping. Also, I wash my head twice a week and use a soft bristle brush to remove the dead skin and stimulate blood flow to my scalp.
